We’re delighted to welcome Leeds-based, fine art photographer David Garthwaite on Monday 1st November for his Zoom presentation entitled; ‘Fine Art: A Workflow.’

Growing up in the industrial north of England shaped David’s artistic style, drawing him towards a bleaker and darker outlook of everyday locations. After starting in photography in 2017 he came across the work of Michael Kenna and was immediately drawn to his minimalist, high contrast B&W style. Later he found the works of Joel Tjintjelaar and an editing style that allowed for greater expression by crafting the luminosity of a scene in a “very smooth and realistic way.”

David now specialises in black & white landscape architecture, portrait and product photography.

Monday’s session will involve a tutorial style, two hour presentation, taking us step by step through David’s workflow covering key techniques used to create fine art images. Watch as David crafts a fine art image from RAW to finished, explaining the tools he’s using, why he’s using them and the theory of how to produce striking images.

If you would like to join David and the Viewfinder Photographic Society for this presentation, tickets cost £5.00 each. A Zoom link will be emailed to you a few days before the session commences.
