The mentor scheme is aimed at members wanting to attain Awards for Photographic Merit from the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) with help from a YPU mentor.
- Please Note: This is a personal qualification and as such, after initial contact with the YPU Awards Officer, who must verify your eligibility to apply for an adjudication, you will only be in contact with the PAGB Awards Officer unless you want to take part in this scheme.
What the YPU mentoring scheme is about
After an initial assessment of a candidates standard, if you are deemed to be of the standard required to apply for your chosen distinction, you will be offered a mentor who will work closely with you on a one to one basis to guide you through the process.
Your mentor….
WILL help you maximise the potential from the portfolio of images you have been assessed on which are already or very nearly deemed to be within the passing range of your chosen distinction.
Advice can be given on post-processing, printing and mounting where necessary.
WILL NOT advise you which images to use to make up your submission or choose those images for you. Part of gaining the qualification is deciding for yourself which images are appropriate to use.
*Please note: Due to past indiscretions by a few mentees, you will be required to sign a Mentoring Contract agreeing to show due respect to your mentor. Please see the YPU Mentor contract 2020.
If you are interested in the RPS (Royal Photographic Society) route you should contact them directly for their in-house assessments & mentoring days.
If you wish to have a chat about any of this process, your contact is the YPU Awards Secretary, Colin Williams, email : awards@ypu.org.uk
