The YPU President Richard Littlefair and President-elect Chris Hodgson welcomed our YPU Keighley Day speakers on Saturday 11th November – Glyn Dewis (Adobe educator and successful author) and Ross McKelvey MPAGB, FIPF, MFIAP, FBPE from the successful Catchlight CC in Belfast.
Our thanks to all the many attendees ( 75+!), which made this one of our most successful Keighley events in recent years.
Ross showed us around 30 of his top award-winning prints, sharing lots of helpful tips on paper choices, mounting and posing. He followed this with some live editing tutorials of his competition images.
Glyn too gave a very polished presentation using examples from his Veterans project on how to engage with a portrait subject in order to achieve a good outcome for the photographer and sitter. The back stories he recounted from this project were quite timely and poignant given that Saturday was Armistice Day. He too followed up with some live edits and helpful tips for the audience.
Both presenters engaged well with the audience making for a very entertaining and informative day.
