Kirkbymoorside CC, Victoria Hillman: ‘The Wonderful World of Macro…’, 6th May 2021, 7:30pm

The last year has been a challenge for anyone who enjoys outdoor photography. But an area where many have found a new focus right on their doorstep is the fascinating world of macro photography. So we are delighted to bring you a highly practical talk from one of its finest exponents – Victoria Hillman:

Nature and photography were passions from an early age for Victoria, who studied Zoology with Marine Zoology before completing an MSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation. A Manfrotto Ambassador, and judge for a range of national photography competitions, she has used macro photography to champion the smaller species all around us.

A contributor to magazines, books, and TV series – including National Geographic and The BBC – Victoria recently joined the Purple Crow Wild team, writing articles on nature and wildlife. She also started the UK Wildlife Podcast, with good friend Neil Phillips, discussing all aspects of UK nature, wildlife, and photography.

Victoria published ‘Forgotten Little Creatures’ in 2017 – a book celebrating local wildlife, which combines photography with science and history. She is working on further books.

Join us via Zoom to hear more about Victoria’s macro techniques, and find more of her work online at www.vikspics.com, at vikspics on Facebook and Twitter, and at victoria.hillman on Instagram.
