The Royal Photographic Society’s Historical Group, in collaboration with Sheffield Museums Trust and Museum Friends, is delighted to invite you to Meet the Author.
Did you know that the first moving pictures were created in Yorkshire?
Internationally renowned author Paul Fischer will read from his new book The Man Who Invented Motion Pictures and discuss this true tale of obsession, murder and the movies, with Geoff Blackwell ARPS. He will answer questions from guests and the evening will conclude with a book signing.
Paul Fischer was born in Saudi Arabia. He is the author of A Kim Jong-Il Production, the true story of the kidnapping of two South Korean filmmakers in North Korea, which was translated into fourteen languages, nominated or the Crime Writers’ Association Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award and chosen as one of the best books of 2015 by NPR and Library Journal. His writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Narwhal, the Independent, the Guardian, Syfy Wire and Bright Wall/Dark Room among others.
The Millennium Gallery is closed to the public in the evenings. Admittance for this event will be via the Arundel Gate entrance ONLY. The Museum Shop will be closed and there will be no credit card sales facilities. Book sales will be by cash (or cheque) only.
