This is a final reminder that the high point of the YPU year, our Annual Assembly and opening of our Annual Exhibition will take place in Doncaster on Saturday 10th May 2025.
The Assembly will take place in the main hall of Hall Cross Academy, Thorne Rd, Doncaster DN1 2HY starting at 10.30am prompt. The hall will be open from 10am. There is ample free all day parking at the school and Doncaster CC members will direct you from there to the hall.
On arrival to take you seats each member will be given a coloured timed ticket to view the Exhibition. This is owing to number limitations placed by the Fire Officer for the exhibition venue. The Assembly will start with a welcome and introduction of our Guest of Honour, Sally Jameson, MP for Doncaster Central. The meeting will continue with a first showing of the Accepted Projected Digital Images and images of the Accepted prints which have received awards. This will be followed by the awarding of Trophies and Certificates.
After the Assembly concludes at around 12.30pm club print boxes will be available for collection, along with Exhibition programmes. Please ensure that a representative from your club collects all the programmes for your entrants as we don’t want any left over.
Those with red tickets are advised to proceed directly to the Danum Art Gallery which is a few minutes walk away. Both locations are shown on the map below. For those with later timed tickets there is an opportunity to find lunch. There is a cafe at the Danum which also houses a museum with some large rail-related exhibits. The gallery limit on numbers does not apply to these. There are other eateries within walking distance.
For those who prefer to stay in the Assembly Room there will be a digital presentation of all the Accepted Prints. The Exhibition in the Danum Gallery will close at 4pm but there will be ample opportunity to visit in the ensuing 7 weeks. The last day of the exhibition is 5th July.
I have been advised that a further attraction in Doncaster on Saturday is a Steampunk gathering at the Mansion House so bring your camera if you wish to visit this.
